Celebrating Strength, Story and Community – ‘The Strength of Women’ Book Launch

On Sunday 14 June, we felt incredibly privileged to host the launch of The Strength of Women – Beaufort at Cave Hill Creek – a powerful and inspiring follow‑up to The Weight of Men, which was released last year.

Created by photographer Dean Morris and his wife Rochelle, this remarkable book brings together portraits and stories of more than 130 women from the Beaufort region. Each image is paired with a deeply personal story — shaped by love, loss, strength, family, hardship, joy and hope — creating a powerful and moving collection.

In the beautiful winter sunshine, we welcomed over 200 guests to share in the celebration, enjoying afternoon tea and drinks together. We were inspired by guest speakers Carol Cooke AM PLY and Julie‑Ann Sanders, whose words reflected the heart and purpose of the project so beautifully.

For us at Cave Hill Creek, this project felt especially meaningful. Ange and several members of our team (both current and past) had the opportunity to share their own stories as part of the book — a reminder of the depth, resilience and connection that exists within our community.

This book is more than a collection of portraits — it is a celebration of community, of shared experiences, and of the strength found in everyday lives.

Congratulations and heartfelt thanks to Dean and Rochelle for their vision, generosity and the many hours they’ve dedicated to bringing this project to life. It truly captures the spirit of our region.

Even more special, proceeds from book sales will support the Beaufort CWA and the Beaufort & Skipton Health Service — extending the impact of this project even further.

A powerful celebration of community — captured through imagery and brought to life through storytelling.
