Cave Hill Creek & the Beeripmo Walk

Mon 23 Jan 2017 | Group Gataways

The Beeripmo Walk and Cave Hill Creek have a special connection.

With the popular walking track accessible on foot from the Cave Hill Creek group accommodation facilities – which sits on the outskirts of the picturesque Mount Baungor State Park – Cave Hill Creek are the regions leading coordinators of guided walks along the highly regarded trail, offering 2 – 5 day expeditions for groups of 12 – 16 people.

As second-generation owners of Cave Hill Creek, Tim and Ange Chandler and their team of experienced staff have intimate knowledge of the neighbouring Mt Cole Ranges that the Beeripmo Walk winds through – which is also where the eponymous creek flows from to fill the lake Tim’s father constructed at Cave Hill Creek.

The Walk…

Taking its name from the local Beeripmo balug Aboriginals, who refer to their home as “Beereep-Beereep”, meaning wild mount, today’s Beeripmo Walk takes you on a journey through the many different environs known to the regions indigenous community.

The operators of Cave Hill Creek have been respectfully leading educational explorations along the trail for many years; and in 2016 Cave Hill Creek claimed the Victoria Tourism Industry Council Small Business Award for their dedication to the education tourism sector focusing on learning about Aboriginal history and culture.

With over 15 years of experience as an outdoor educator, Cave Hill Creek’s expedition coordinator Simon Milligan was honoured to accept this award for his hard work in designing and leading a range of tailored expeditions along the Beeripmo Walk.

The Beeripmo Walk presents a rewarding challenge for intermediate bushwalkers, with campsites scattered between the cool fern gullies and towering alpine forests where you can find toilets and water and fire pits. The track takes in the impressive landscape of the surrounding Mount Cole and Buangor State Park, as well as views of Mt Langi Ghiran and the distant Grampians.
